1 month old...and counting

Man, oh man! Little Nathan is already 1 month old? You gotta be kidding me! That went by fast, too fast! We all sang him happy birthday a few times during the day. He even received a call from his favorite Nana!

One of my friends from the ward asked if she could practice taking pictures of a newborn. Hmm, cool professional photos of my sweet baby boy....YES! She said she needs the practice, but I think they turned out fantastic! She's planning on taking more when he's 6 weeks, 2 month, 3 month and so forth! She also wants to do some with the other brother's sometime in the near future.

Michelle Weymouth: I've only met Michelle 1 time at her reception in Santa Barbara, CA (many moons ago!) SHe married one of my best friends, so I knew she had to be an awesome person! Somehow several months ago I came across her blog, and enjoy reading about her fun and crazy life with her 2 boys. She's fun and sassy! I wish we lived closer because I know we'd hang out and be great friends!

Elise Clark: One of my cousins in Utah. One of the most sweetest and nicest gals anyone will ever meet. I enjoy reading and looking at the numerous photos of her sweet baby boy Kole that's a few months old. She is head over heels in love with this little guy! It's cute to read about! (BTW, so, so excited to be moving to Utah soon so we will be closer!! YEAH!)

Alissa Miller: Another sweet gal who married one of my cousins, Ben, who is crazy! (You too Matt!) Those two boys will keep you in stitches! Alissa has to have a great sense of humor, and she does. She has adorable kids that seem to look older and older with each new post! Alissa is great at updating her family blog and her YUMMY recipe blog. She's way far away in Philly, but I feel close to her from our blogging.
Alacey Yarn: I have known this gal for almost 5 years. She is the one who recently did our family photos and we LOVE them! She is so talented and I appreciate that she is always so willing to share her talents with me. She is also VERY crafty and a great scrapbooker. Her two girls are adorable!!!

P.F. Changs

P.F. Chang's is one of my favorite restaurants of all times. I could name several items off the menu that are Scott's and my favorite. But the one that tops the list is the lettuce wraps. My mouth is watering as I'm typing. YUMMY!
Well, last week I was invited to attend with some of my boys to a Kid's Menu Tasting Event. Scott and I had to rearrange our busy schedules to make sure I could attend this event. It sounded fun and free food from P. F. Chang's, why wouldn't I go? We drove all the way into Scottsdale (about 20-25 minutes away from our home). Earlier that morning we had to leave super early for soccer games and birthday parties.
We arrived at 1pm and as I walked in, I noticed only a few staff members where there. no other mom bloggers. No other children. Uh-oh. I asked one of the servers about the special event I was invited to and he knew nothing of it. The manager came over and preceded to explain to me that the main chef's wife had emergency surgery and the event was postponed. BUMMER! He was extremely nice and said the event had been rescheduled for November, and Laura (the main gal in charge of the shin-dig) tried to contact me several times. He was very apologetic. Then, he asked if he could treat my entire family to a free lunch. Yes, I said a FREE lunch at P.F. Chang's! I feel bad for the lead chef's emergency surgery, but free lunch! How great is that! Scott parked the car and brought in the rest of the gang. We huddled around a table and ordered. Just looking through the menu made my mouth water. It had been too long since we had been to P. F. Chang's.

Here is Jackson coloring and playing all the little games inside of the children's menu.

Will taking some sips of his favorite drink, a Shirley Temple. YUM!

The Thompson gang waiting patiently for our food to arrive!

It's here! Our FREE lunch from one of the most yummy, delicious restaurants around!

Here is the aftermath...The damage had been done. We are all full and this is what a typical table looks like when we've had enough! :)
THANK you P. F. Chang's for a GREAT lunch!
THANK you manager who was so kind to offer a FREE lunch to us!
THANK you to my friend Stephanie who forwarded my name to be included to this event!
THANK you Laura for the invite!
See you in November!!

Halloween Dessert Party

I love Halloween! We had are annual dessert party again this year! It was fun and we had a great turn out. I decided not to do a children's craft, but it ended up being just fine. Most of the kids played outside. All the adults sat around chit chatting with one another. It was fun!
Here is Mr. Brig's before the party eating a cupcake. Who I'm kidding, he ate 3!

Here is the gang! A military man, A ferocious lion, Winnie the Pooh as a bumble bee, Superman, and Batman!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

YUMMY!

Here are a couple of our family's favorite dessert recipes. Now, if you make either of these and you think yours is yummy, then PLEASE try my recipe and let me know which is better! With the lemon bars I use real lemon juice, not that concentrated crap! For both you need to use butter. (maybe margarine but none of that low fat nonsense!) ENJOY!!

Lemon Bars

2 sticks butter
1/2 C powdered sugar
2 C flour
Press into a slightly greased pan. Bake at 350 for 20 minuets in a 13x9 pan.
4 eggs
5 T lemon juice
2 C sugar
4 T flour
Beat well. Pour over hot crust. Bake 25 minutes at 350.

Here is another goody!

Snicker Doodle Cookies
1 C butter
1 1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 C flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt

Add above ingredients in order. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. In a separate bowl mix some sugar a cinnamon together. Roll ball into mixture. Bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes.

I heart Nana!

This post is brought to you by Nathan Thompson:

My Nana couldn't make it to my birth, but she was listening on the phone the entire time my mom was in the delivery room. Almost everyday of my short little life my mom puts the phone to my ear so I can hear my sweet Nana talking to me. My Nana wants me to hear her voice so I can get use to it. Silly Nana, I know your voice! You're my Nana!

It sure was fun having you come and visit me over the weekend. It was too short of a visit, but my mom told me you only like to stay a couple days at a time. I hope to see you again soon. I miss you already!

I love you Nana!!

YEE HAW!

Over the weekend Jackson and Tyler had a cowboy birthday party....Yes, we crammed a ton of stuff into a short weekend, but Nana and Papa were in town and wanted them to share in on the fun! Some of the kids didn't dress up, so we handed out bandannas and sheriff badges to them so they wouldn't feel left out.

We had 18 cowboys and cowgirls in attendance to the party. It was real fun to have a lot of Jack's and Ty's friends and family come and have some fun with them.

The kids had shooting competition on the wii. We made a huge poster with their names and score. It was a shooting tournament.

Each of the kids drew a self portrait of themselves for the wanted wall. Scott helped them make up cool western names.

We also had a rodeo where Scott was the wild n crazy bull. He put a belt high on his chest so the kids could hold onto it while they rode Scott. We timed each kid, and it was sure fun to watch Scott. What a character he is! His back and knees were sore after, but all the kids loved it! Jackson was the only kid who flew off....

What's a party without a pinata? I had that thing stuffed with candy! The boot fell off like 3 times it was so heavy!

The boys opened their gifts which was a lot of fun! They received a ton of fun toys they really liked. It was a fun party!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER!!

Tyler's Tiger

Tyler has been involved in the scouting program for a little over a month and has really enjoyed being part of a fun pack. A few weeks Tyler received his Tiger. He has been working pretty hard on getting that award and others. It's been fun to help Will, Jackson and Tyler in the scouting program. Gavin and Brigham participate as much as they can and are excited about being a real cub scout soon. Gavin asks me every week where his uniform and book are. He's so cute.

An extra special THANKS to Jarom for taking Tyler that night for me!!!
