Leap Year Primary Activity

Last Sunday we celebrated Leap year in primary by playing Leap Frog. I found this fun idea here! I love that site, there are so many fun activities to do in primary during singing time! I had 4 frogs and wrote a number on each of them. I had 4 children come up and together they made their frogs jump. Which ever frog leaped the farthest was the song we would sing. On the board I had a giant 1, 2, 3 and 4 and under each number had a song. 1 was January's song, As a Child of God. 2 was February's song, Choose the Right. 3 was wiggle songs (like pop corn popping, Book of Mormon Stories and Wise man and the Foolish Man) 4 was If the Savior Stood Beside ME (a song the children are singing in 3 weeks for Ward Conference. Each child was able to come up and play Leap Frog, it was a fun idea!

The Real ultrasound

While my mom was in town this past weekend I had my ultrasound scheduled, the real one. The other 2 were just to see what the sex pf the baby is, this one would show us the face, the hands, the heart, the femur... We thought it would be funny to pretend we didn't know what we were having. We told the technician I have 6 boys, but thought it may be another boy, but we weren't sure. She became very excited to find out for us and moved the magic wand all over my belly. The technician stopped in the bottom region and froze the shot. We saw a cute little bottom and a teeny tiny penis. SHOCKING! We acted a little bummed at first and then were excited. She seemed a little sad for us. It was funny!

HANDS

Week 7 was the word HANDS for the photog group I am in. They collage turned out great! Next week is ORANGE!

LDS abc Book

This was a very easy and fun abc book to put together. My 2, 4 and 6 year old love looking at it and the older boys enjoy reading some of the harder words for the younger brothers.
There are lots of these LDS abc books out there, but I love this one because I hand chose each and every picture and the words it went with. It was also fun to choose the different scrap book paper to match the different pictures. It's a cute custom made abc book that the boys love and it helps during sacrament meeting!

Quiet Books

A couple weeks ago I was a laminating machine! I had a bunch of quiet books I needed to completed as well as an awesome primary singing time activity (found here). I started these quiet folders while living in Arizona! I happy to have them off my list of to-do's!
Each of them have a little lesson and story you can tell the kids about or they can just do the activity. On the back is a zip lock baggy stapled to the folder so we don't lose any og the laminated pieces. (They also have velcro on the back of each picture!)
Here are two matching games. One about being reverent and prayer and the other matching different foods that we eat. Brigham and Nathan have enjoyed these the most. They were really easy to put together and I'm glad to have them finally complete!

Happy Birthday again to an AMAZING WIFE and MOTHER of 7!!!

So, it has been 2 years since the last time that I hacked my wife's account.

The link to the last birthday hack can be found by clicking that link.

I wanted to do it again, because there is a lot that needs to be said about this amazing woman that I somehow convinced to marry me 13 years ago.  She has so many amazing qualities that have been reviewed in the previous birthday post above, but I wanted to add some more.

Lori continues to be an AMAZING MOM!  She always puts the needs and desires of her family before her own.  She is continually looking for activities for the boys to do with each other, and activities that we can do as a family.  She keeps it all organized on a wall calendar and in her day calendar in her purse.  She daily creates "to-do" lists to make sure that she gets everything done that she has planned for the boys and for the family.  Even if it means sacrificing some of the things that she would like to do, she does it!  And she doesn't complain about it!!  I have heard countless times from other ladies that they don't know how she does everything that she does, but she definitely seems to do about 4-5X more than most other moms do.

In addition to being the MOM to our awesome family, Lori has graciously volunteered her time to help dozens of other moms struggling with their newborns or the issues of parently newborns.  I have often termed Lori the "baby whisperer" because I have found that she has an amazing knack to just know what newborns need.  She has the amazing skills to parent these newborns throughout their difficulties and wants to share that knowledge with other people.  I know there are a bunch of moms out their who are grateful for the time she has taken to help them out, whether in person or over the phone...

Lori is also a COUPONER! She takes those awesome organization skills and applies it to saving our family LOTS of money.  She scans various websites that offer great deals and then makes sure that she has all the right coupons printed and clipped, to maximize our savings.  I have been with her on a number of occasions and seen over 50% savings on things that we actually use everyday.  I am not talking about storage of more dish soap that the neighborhood could ever possibly consume, I am talking about savings on things like cereal, soup, snacks, etc. that our 6 boys eat on a daily basis.  Thank you for taking the time to organize and save us money!!!

Lori is CRAFTY (sung in the same manner as the Beastie Boys).  She absolutely LOVES to craft.  She seems to be making new crafts all of the time.  Some are to give away as gifts, but most are to be used around the house to make things feel more like a home.  She is able to look at ideas on the internet and then make them pretty easily.  She loves posting these crafts here on the blog to share with you guys and let you know how they turned out.

Lori is also the QUEEN OF PARTIES and HAVING FUN!  Whenever she enters a room, her enthusiasm is contagious.  People just love to have fun when she is around, and Lori loves to have fun, so it is a win-win.  She loves to host parties at the house, and I think those who have attended would say that it is always a LOT of fun with the fun activities and food that are provided.  She is an AMAZING PRIMARY CHORISTER and I know that the kids at church always have a ton of fun with the things that she does with them.  Rather than doing the same thing over and over, she is constantly striving to find new ideas to implement and make the primary singing experience fun and spiritual at the same time.

Lori loves to ORGANIZE GROUPS for common ideas and fun!  She read on a blog about a produce co-op, and thought to herself, "I can do that!".  And she did.  She sought out the necessary information to obtain the produce from a local wholesaler, and then found out which ladies in the area would be interested in participating.  This number has grown now to over 50 women who enjoy the blessings of discounted produce on a weekly basis.  Lori also organized a Photog group on Facebook, where they photograph a key word each week and then share them with each other.  Lori then uses these pictures to create a collage of all of the contributions.  It is a LOT of fun!

Lori is also an AMAZING Blogger!!!  As you can probably tell, if you have spent any time at all on this site, she puts a LOT of effort in reporting to others how much fun we are having as a family.  She puts a LOT of effort into compiling summaries of what we have done, or sharing ideas of things that she has run across that you might enjoy.  I know she check the blog daily looking for comments from her readers, and she is always thrilled when you take the time to comment on a post that she has made.  PLEASE leave more comments, because this definitely makes her feel that more people are reading the things that she writes.  She will often get comments from people that they had read about "that" on her blog, but then they never made a comment.  Don't be a lurker.... LOL  A lurker is someone who reads the blog, and never posts any comments...

Lori is the BEST WIFE IN THE WORLD!  She is sassy and sexy, and always keeps me on my toes...  She loves to cuddle up an watch movies or TV in bed.  She loves to make cute little gifts for me for my birthday, anniversary, or for no reason at all.  She understands who I am as a person, what I enjoy to do, and what she can do to support me in the many things that I have on my plate.  While she would love to have me around more on a daily basis, she understands when I can't be, and just makes the time we do have together count that much more.

In the Book of Mormon, it says that if all men were like unto Captain Moroni, the very depths of hell would be shaken.  Well, I would go so far as to say that if all women were like unto Lori Thompson, the same depths of hell would be shaken.

There is a quote that I have seen recently on Pinterest that says "Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says 'Uh, oh... She's up!'".  Well I am happy to say, that Lori is THAT kind of WOMAN, and she is definitely MY KIND OF WOMAN!!!

I LOVE YOU, LORI BELLE!!!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

P.S. Leave your own comments below and let Lori know how much you love and appreciate her!!!

Swimming Lessons!

Gavin and Brigham started swimming lessons a few weeks ago. They go every Tuesday and Thursday evening and LOVE IT! They take lessons from the Holladay Lions Club, it's a huge facility!
There is lap swimming, a jacuzzi, a Whirlpool area., a huge open area for lessons or playing...
Slides, and 2 other play structures for children to play on. So fun!
Gavin is almost swimming by himself, he will be ready when the summer comes!
They are having a great time and I enjoy the hour break!

Remember earlier in the week he popped his 6 balloons for his birthday like this:

Gavin is such a funny little kid.

52 things I LOVE about you!

Here is something I made for Scott this year for Valentine's day. He's loves sappy, sentimental things and this got him good! As he read he had tears in his eyes! Love it! Thanks to Pinterest for another wonderful idea!! Here is the tutorial.
I came up with many more than the 52, so that was the hard part taking some out. I used all pink and red paper with 8 different fonts and added some hearts, bling, cupid and other Valentine clip art. Here is just a taste of some of the reasons why he is truly THE BEST!

I made most serious but also added in some funny ones. He really is just the best kind of guy! He is always working so hard to help serve and protect me and the boys. I love you Scott!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Felt Conversation Hearts

I finally completed these cute felt conversation hearts for Valentine's day. I cut them all out last year, and finished them up last night! Can you say procrastination? :) A good friend of mine gave me the idea at first and I also found a easy tutorial here. I love how she used the blanket stitch. I added saying on most of them, but it was just too hard for me. I don't have the patience for small details. But, I still think they turned out nice. If my boys think they're cute, then I've done a good job!!

I placed them all in a basket with some white tulle underneath. So cute and fun!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

SUNSET

Week 6 of the photog group was the word SUNSET. This turned out great! SO many beautiful sunsets and so many interesting interpretations of the word. I forgot to add one of the pictures, which is so beautiful. Sorry again Rachel!!

If I could award a winner it would be to Courtney for the picture below. WOW! Breathtakingly beautiful. That is a true Utah sunset!

Valentine Scratcher's for Primary

For primary yesterday I wanted to do something extra special for Valentine's Day. I told the kids that a bunch of Valentines were mailed to my house accidentally, so I brought them to church. I found this adorable idea form one of my favorite primary music blogs found here. Inside were large red heart with the song written on them.
I wanted to make this idea a little more fun by using hearts with scratchers on them. I wrote a bunch of fun songs and covered it with gold paint for the children to scratch off to discover which song we would sing. This scratch idea was found here.

It was a family affair helping me put this project together. THANKS Will and Scott!!! It turned out great! The kids really enjoyed this activity. I made 8 envelopes and 16 scratch hearts (8for jr. an 8 for sr.!) The scratchers will also work for several other holidays and special events. The kids loved it!

Happy Birthday Gavin!

On Saturday was Gavin's 6th birthday! We went with some other cousins to Red Robin for his special birthday dinner. The boys always come up with funny new words and saying and for the past couple of months Gavin always says "pina colada!" So we bought him one at the restaurant! He was thrilled!
A large piece of cake with ice cream...
...and opening a few gifts! He wanted a new football, and got it!
Around the house there were balloons for Gavin for his birthday. There's money in them and so he was excited to pop all the balloons around the house!
Gavin is really into X-Men and the Wolverine character. Hence the pencil claws and popping method! Silly boy!

Valentine's Banner

I finally completed one of my Valentine's crafts! YIPPY! I went through my extra fabric and collected all the pink and red ones I could find. I also went to Joann's to buy the cute pom-pom's (for the top of the banner). I started on Wednesday but my sewing machines were giving me problems. I ran one of them in to get a quick tune-up and then headed home to finish sewing my banner. My cute friend, Alacey, is like the banner queen. Seriously! She has a banner for her mantel for every holiday!
After measuring my banner, and then deciding how large I wanted the triangles, I them started cutting the cute material with a cream backing. (That was extra material I had when I made tunic's for Gavin's Star Wars birthday party last year!)
 I sewed the pieces together...
added embellishments...and sewed the white pom-pom's on.

Cute, easy and fun. I did make it waaaay too long. (I even measured! UGH!)But I love it. At V and Co. they have a great tutorial! She is super talented!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!
