Bear Award

A few weeks ago Tyler received several awards at the Blue and Gold Banquet... The most important one this year was that he was awarded his Bear!

Arrow of Light

 My cute 10 year old, Jackson, received his Arrow of Light last Thursday evening at pack meeting. Great work Jackson!

 As he was receiving his award the chief renamed him Skipping Rock, he thought it was hilarious!

 Before the Arrow of Light was awarded to him he also received several other patches, belt loops and pins. He, like his other brothers, is loving Scouts.

 Jackson's group was in charge of bringing in the flag and leading the meeting.

Tyler's group did a cute little skit on stage for all of us.
The Scouting program is wonderful and I am very thankful for all that it offers my boys!

Pine Wood Derby

 Last Thursday we raced in the Pine Wood derby! The boys did a great job on their cars! They designed them, sanded them, painted them... It was a FUN evening! Out of over 20 kids Jackson came in THIRD and Tyler came in FIFTH!

Bear

 The other night was the Blue and Gold Banquet in our new area. Jackson received his Bear award, a gold arrow point and two silver arrow points. Way to go Jackson!!

I was a super proud mama!

It was a nice evening and we are so proud of Jackson in all this hard work and effort passing off so many requirements from the Cub Scouting program.

Pine Wood Derby

 Jackson participated in his FIRST Pine Wood Derby in Utah. They ran the derby much differently here than in Arizona. It was chaotic. It was wild. There was no rhyme or reason to anything. They didn't even weigh all the cars. Kids were hanging all over the track.

Jackson did great. He placed third in his age group. He is such a wonderful boy. Such a wonderful cub scout.

Police Station

Last night for Tyler's Tiger cub pack we were off to the Gilbert Police Station. It was pretty awesome. I've only been to the SB one, and it was a long time ago. Man, was that place nice. (Not like SB at all!!) One of the cub's dad is a detective and gave us a sweet tour of the place. Above were in the call center room. That was amazing. There were about 6 employees on and at their own desk. Each person had 4 or 5 huge monitor's that helped them navigate through the process.

We went outside to see some Police vehicles. Here the boys are hanging on a SWAP truck.

Back inside, we walked through the large meeting room where the meet before each shift and talk about who they're after and what goals they want to accomplish for the day. I noticed this, and thought it was pretty interesting. Right next to it was a couple dozen mug shots of individuals they're looking for. On each rap sheet it stated their offenses. Yikes!

While walking around there were several cops, they would always stop and talk to the boys. Everyone was real nice and it was a great experience!

Jamborama!

We celebrated with many people a couple Saturday's ago at a beautiful park. What were we all celebrating? 100 years of Scouting. How wonderful is that?!
There were a ton of fun events and games for the boys to participate in. A little golfing...

A very fun obstacle course. I raced against Jackson and Dad raced against Tyler...So creative and fun!

It was like 90 plus degree outside, but we all had a blast! Thank you Cub Scout program!!

Arrow Of Light

On Wednesday the 31st was a very, very special day for our family in the Cub Scout world. Both Jackson and Will received many awards, but most importantly, Will received his Arrow of Light!
The night began with Jackson's troop telling jokes (as everyone was eating).

Then, Jackson's troop sang a couple Scouting songs and used their homemade instruments. It was really cute. Jackson had been practicing all week, and you could defiantly hear him sing.
Jackson received a 2 more silver arrows and 2 belt loops. (Citizenship and Communication)

After all the groups received their awards this Indian guy comes out in full uniform. It was awesome. All the kids, including the adults, thought it was pretty special.

Will was called up and the Indian guy did a special speech and ritual and then Will received his Weblos. (he also received Citizenship Belt Loop, Communicating, Outdoors man Activity Badge, Compass Emblem and 1 point)
Next Will, 2 other cub scouts and the parents all came up for another cool ritual about the Arrow of Light.

Will received a mother's pin, a badge, 2 pins, a feathered tie for his vest and this plaque.

Thank you Bryce family, and Zamora family for not only putting on an extra special evening, but more importantly helping my boys sign off requirements so they can receive awards.
