Tyler is in the double digits!!

Tyler turned 10!!! He's now in the double digits and loving it!! We threw a pool party for him a couple of weeks ago, right after his football game. (which they won by the way!! Tyler scored 4 touchdowns!!) Our good friends let us have it at their home. They have a huge yard with a zip line and tramp.





The boys played a little football while waiting for the rest of their friends to arrive.



It was about 55-60 degrees that day. But, the pool was heated to 90 degrees! The boys had a ton of fun jumping and playing in the warm water.



We served hot dogs , cheeseburgers, drinks, chips and other delicious, non-healthy food.








Even this little guy ate a cheese burger!

Pops was in town! He helped manning the grill.



All the boys ended up in the Jacuzzi. Like I said, it was super cold!



Tyler had 12 friends and also his brothers there to share in this extra special day. Tyler is such a great kid. He is super athletic, smart and will try anything. He is also a tender hearted kid and loves to snuggle with me.

We are MOVING!!!

We're just not sure exactly where or when! Our goal is to be moved into our new home by summer time. We're staying here in Utah, Salt Lake is our home and we will never leave. There are a few neighborhoods we love. We want to stay in Olympus High School district too. We've been looking around, but nothing has caught our total attention yet. We want to move in a nearby neighborhood with very little to no crime. So, if there is a house for sale around you, please let us know!! We would like either a small grandma home on a larger lot that we could tear down and build a new larger home on; or a home that is already built, and a little newer. The home HAS to have an in-law suite with two bedrooms.

We've been thinking about this for quite some time now. My main reason for moving is, unfortunately, the crime rate is slowly moving up around here and it's beginning to scare me too much to handle. Also, we need a larger home. I was telling some of my friends at church yesterday that we were moving, and they were totally shocked! After they asked why and I explained the number one reason, they thought I was kidding. At that same moment a couple of older men walked into the room and said, "crime?" with a chuckle. They said they haven't heard about anything like that happening around here. Sad. Sad that they didn't know about it. I wish people would stop telling me about it (That's not directed to you Jen!!)

We're in the very beginning stages of figuring this all out. We're still not totally sure if we want to buy or build. I have started an idea book that is focused on our wishlists if we decide to build. Floor plans, sizing, rooms...It's been very beneficial. It's also been fun to gather the boys ideas and adding them to Scott's and my own. We've also knocked on a few doors, in some of the neighborhoods that we like, to ask them about it. We've been able to gather a lot of great information. Another HUGE selling point is the ward we'd be attending. The Primary and Young Men's program needs to be large in participation numbers. The Thompson Clan does not want to be the largest contributing factor in either one.

Please don't feel bad if I haven't told you yet that we're moving. We just recently decided to start talking to people. Our biggest reason for telling people so soon....Because YOU may know of a home we'd be interested in!!

Seriously, this is my day...

Even though I have a huge calendar hanging in my kitchen, one in my purse and one at my desk in the office, I have to sit down every Sunday night and write out plans for the upcoming week. It's super busy today. It's super busy (almost) everyday. Most nights around 9-10pm I sit there and think, wow the day flew by. I can't believe how fast it went. It's all a blur.

Here is my schedule for TODAY. Today only! I need a second driver.

8:00-8:30 Sub crossing at William Penn Elementary
8:35-9:05 cross at Upland Terrance
10-11 Evergreen Jr. to work on Reflections (make hundreds of copies and deliver to certain teachers)
11:10 pick up Brig's from kindergarten
11:30 take Papa to drop off car and take him home
12 lunch
12:30 put Preston to sleep
1-2 PTA meeting at Rosecrest
245-315 welcome kids home, snacks, start homework
3:30-4 cross guard at Upland Terrance
4:15 take Will to Football practice
515 take Tyler to Football practice
5:30 Take and watch Gavin's flag football game
6:15 pick up Will early, take to Evergreen for performance
7 back to evergreen to watch Will's performance
8 dinner, bedtime for kids

Furniture for SALE!!!!

I am trying to sell a bunch of furniture and open up space in my garage so Scott can park his car there again!  If you're interested in anything, please let me know asap. I thought he was just a Loser...

A few weeks ago, I was watching this television show where two police detectives asked a husband and wife into their office to question them regarding their son. At first the parents were like, "what did he do now?" Asking more questions about the wrongs their son had probably done. A robbery, drug related...what?

After a few moments of asking the parents some questions, they revealed to them their son had been murdered. Of course they both wept and were incredible sad about their boy.  After a short time, the detectives uncovered that the son had endured some major trials. The parents were both shocked and stunned. They had no idea about these experiences. The dad wept and said, "I thought my son was just a loser".  In the context of the tragic situations that this boy had been required to endure, it became evident why the boy had made some unfortunate choice. 

There have been many times I thought my brother was a loser for the choices he made; being a drug addict and all the things that comes with that. Of course I loved my brother very much, but a lot of times it was hard not to think of him as anything else.

Regardless of being a drug addict, or any other life altering patterns, there is always a reason why. There is always a reason why someone goes from making straight A's to failing every class. There is always a reason why someone tries drugs. There is always a reason why someone leaves the church.

I need to be better at not judging someone on how they are acting and/or living in this moment. I need to take into account their life, their history, their trials and their choices.

It really hit home for me today during fast and testimony meeting. So many adorable children willingly went up to the pulpit and bore their testimonies.  Most of those innocent testimonies shared the same belief; that we will live again with God and with Jesus Christ again. I am especially thankful for this knowledge, knowing I will see my brother again. I can't wait for that moment!

Jenny Lake, Wyoming

 

 

On Wednesday, Scott told me that he didn't work Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Say Wha? I had (another) great idea of heading to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for the weekend. Being the wonderful husband, that he is, he said YES!! Our main stop was Jenny Lake. We hiked around this beautiful lake. We all enjoyed ourselves. It was perfect weather and oh, so beautiful. We took our time and enjoyed every moment.

We rode the boat back to the ranger station and headed to the next lake, String Lake. We spent the afternoon playing in the water. Will is half way out in the lake and it only went up to his waist! It's a very shallow lake, which makes it a little warmer. It was so fun to swim and play!

The car is totalled!

On Saturday, September 14th, Scott was driving Tyler home after a football game. It started pouring rain. Tyler said, "This weather is so bad, I think someone is going to get into a car accident." Then, he put on his seat belt. Scott agreed and slowed down to about 50mph. Within a minute, a white truck pulled in front of them and Scott had to tap on his brakes. This caused the car to hydroplane and swerve in and out of the fast lane on the I-80 freeway.  Scott turned the wheel to straighten the car out correctly, but the freeway made a slight bend in the road. This made the Cobalt spin further out of control and smash into the median concrete divider. Scott was sure that the car would flip over into oncoming traffic. Thank goodness that did not happen. After the car slammed into the medium, it slid a few hundred yards. 

Scott called and with a strange voice and said, "Lori, Tyler and I are fine, okay?" Weird, but okay. Then he continued, "We were in a car accident, nobody else was hit or hurt."

Both boys are fine. The car, not so much. You can't really tell from the pictures, but the back passenger's tire is bent up and undrivable. Their backs were sore and Tyler had a big goose egg on the side of his head, but they are fine. They walked away from the accident. Thank Goodness.

When I drove up, Tyler began walking to me, and started to cry. He was shaken up and a bit scared.  He told me it was his fault because he had said someone is about to be in an accident because of the bad weather. Poor guy! We immediately told him it was NOT his fault. Actually, he was a brave hero. He listened to the spirit and buckled his seatbelt! That was a true miracle!

Tennis

Late in the summer, Jackson started playing tennis. Here he is on his first day. He had a lot of fun, made new friends and learned a lot about the sport. There are 8 kids in the class together with different skill levels. We will move Jackson to more of an advance class as soon as he's ready. Jackson attends his weekly lesson and practices as often as he can. He has kept with it and is playing better everyday. Way to go Jack!!
