Santa Barbara Reunion

A couple months ago Michelle, Steve, Robin and I were all talking together about how great it is that so many families from Santa Barbara are now living in Utah. We thought it would be a great idea to plan a SB Reunion...so we did!

Yesterday we met at Creekside Park in Alpine. The park was very fun, and central for so many families. There are several playgrounds, a splash pad, basketball courts, tennis courts, a volleyball court, tons of grass to play Frisbee and lacrosse and sidewalks for bikes and scooters.

We BBQ'ed meat, ate chips and cookies and drank soda pop. Steve lead an epic game of Crazy Ball. It was so fun!

It was so wonderful to see so many great people from Santa Barbara again. I remember most of these people as 14, 15 and 16 years olds, so it was pretty strange when they brought along their spouses and children! Here are a few pictures of the fun event.

4th of July Festivities

For the 4th of July we headed to Park City and met up with several other families from Santa Barbara. This is the second year that we've done this, and it is quickly becoming our new tradition for the 4th of July.
We meet at a great park tucked back in the area just east of Park City. It's several degrees cooler there and was so beautiful. There is a huge field, play ground, skate park, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic area and bike trail. We bring skateboards, bikes, scooters, basketballs, football, Frisbees and lots of food. After we eat lunch, we play Crazy Ball, which is like kickball on steroids. It is the most fun game (with a large group of people). You can either kick or bat the ball, which is a volleyball. First base is super close, only 10 feet away. But second base is far, far, far off in center field. You can have any amount of people on the base at the same time, but once you leave you can't come back. You get a ton of people on first or second base and then a big hitter comes and gets all the players home. You can either catch the ball for an out, touch the base or tag someone.

There is second base, waaaaaaay out there!!

After the BBQ, we went to Midway and met up at my friend's house. The kids went swimming and the adults had fun catching up. After swimming, we ordered pizza and headed into town. We found this cute area with a gazebo and bleachers and decided it was the perfect place for fireworks. The boys had fun taking turns lighting them off. Several other families were around us and we were all setting them off. It was awesome!

I made some home made salsa (the cilantro, onions and jalapeno pepper were from my garden!! HOLLER!!) I also made some other dips, delicious corn on the cob and red, white and blue homemade cupcakes, so much better that those box kinds!!

College Roommate Reunion

IN college I had the best roommates, ever. I still am in contact with most of them and it's always so fun to reunite with them. Yesterday I met Michelle and Trish, two of my college roommates, downtown for a little shopping and lunch. We headed across the street to Blue Lemon and it was yummy. It was so fun catch up and laugh about the past.

Later that night we headed to another roommate, Janae, and had a BBQ there. Janae and Adam have a beautiful home with a huge yard. While the children ran around wild, we all chatted, laughed and reminisced of college life.
Janae, Trish and Michelle are not only wonderful women they are also still great friends. Thanks for another fun evening!
