Publishing

Well, I am finally doing it. For real! Yea, so excited! I have written several children's books for the past 6 years or so. I have a few different topics, but the ones I've been working on the most is a series called "I love it When..." These books are meant to be preschool-early reader board books. The series fallows two young boys (Will and Jack age 6 and 4) on their adventures. These picture books are educational and fun.
Yesterday I searched on-line for hours through different children's publishers and LDS children's publishers. Today I worked on the letter I plan on sending to different agency's. I will probably start sending them out sometime next week. This is so exciting. I know it's a little out there when I say I see my books being sold at Border's, Barnes and Noble, Cost-co, Dessert Books and other book stores. Individually and sold as a set. But, it's true. I have a true passion for this and pray it goes somewhere. I have printed out, laminated, and bound several of the stories for my boys to read, and they love them. Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers!!
PS....a BIG shout out of THANKS to my good friends Stephanie Shumway and Rebecca Talley for their time and help! And of course my extraordinary husband Scott!!! I love you babe!

Creative and Inspiring

I wouldn't describe myself as a very creative or artistic person. I usually see something cute someone else has made or done and try to copy that the best I can. So, thank you to all my creative artistic friends out there! :)

I enjoy writing children's books. I have already written six, but it's been a long time since the last one was completed. I have those six printed out with cute pictures, laminated, and bound together (thank you Kinko's!). We really enjoy reading them over and over and the kids get a kick out of their mom writing all of them. It's a cute little series, "I Love it When..." I always use experiences from my family and use pictures of the boys. Some examples are: ...golfing, swimming, signing. I don't have any girl themed like ballet classes, or playing dress-up. At least not yet! :)

Well, the other day I was fooling around on the computer and came across the file entitled Children's Books. I opened it up and was floated with inspiration on a few new ideas. Right then and there I typed up another cute book. I also started scribbling down notes for three other books. I did feel very creative and I was defiantly inspired at that moment. It felt great. I enjoying writing about my adorable boys and the activities they enjoy doing.

Does anyone out there have a contact with a children's publishing co.?? I would love to show them what I got and share what more is still up in my imagination.

Confession Sunday

One of my good friends does a "Confession Sunday" on her blog. (Thanks Shalene!!) I thought it was a cute idea. Her confessions have been so funny. So I thought I'd do one of my own "confessions" for today's post. I've been trying to think of a confession that was Sunday appropriate, and wasn't too terrible that I could share with all of you. I also wanted it to be something most of you don't know about me.

So here is MY confession. I dream of being a publishing author. I have written 7 children's books. And now, I am in the middle of an LDS romance novel that I've been working on for the past year or so. With the children's books I have printed them out, laminated them and bound them together for my boys to read. "I love it when..." is the start of each title. I've written about using sign language, swimming lessons, botanical garden, going to the beach and others. It's been a lot of fun and the boys love it too.

My romance novel is AWESOME!! (Stephenie Meyer, you are my hero!) The story has been in my head for years. It's a lot harder to get it down on paper though. I dream about it all the time and wake up to write things down before I forget them. As you probably have already guessed I'm not great in the English department. With Scott's help, I have finally gotten the overall story down, and I am now breaking it up into sections and augmenting each chapter with the little details I still have in my head and just have not jotted down yet.

With the right amount of persuasion, I just might highlight certain parts on my blog for my readers to chime in with their thoughts and comments. We will see....
