7th son, born on the 7th day of the 7th month

Well, I made it to 7-7. I truly can't believe it. The end of this pregnancy was tough and I was miserable a lot of the time. On Friday evening my mom flew in and we headed out to dinner with some cousins. Later that night it was hard to get to sleep. Scott and I were super excited, like we were heading to Disneyland the next day or something like that. Silly us...

On Saturday morning, Scott woke me around 7am and we were off to the hospital. We arrived around 7:20am to check in and do some paperwork.

It was really weird walking into the hospital, not having any contractions, but knowing I was there to deliver a baby. Besides Scott, my mom, Will and Tyler were there. I received my IV, the doctor broke my water and I received an epidural. While laboring, I put my eye mask on and listened to classical music trying to stay relaxed, calm and focused. My cute boys were playing Xbox the entire time.

Dr. Yamashiro is my doctor, and one of the coolest people I know! Scott works with his wife (she's a doctor too!) Both wonderful people and great doctors! Scott delivered the baby less that 2 hours later. Well, hang on there... I delivered the baby and Scott was there to assist me. :)
Will saw Brigham delivered, cut his umbilical cord and in a few years will be able to baptize him. Cute Tyler figured out that the age difference was perfect for him to someday baptize this baby. So Tyler witnessed the delivery, cut the umbilical cord and will one day baptize him.

I asked Jackson if he wanted to come to the delivery and he looked at me with disgust and said, "Ewww, no. That's gross!" It's not for everybody!
Cute pie baby boy #7 was welcomed to the world. He was really purple, but his coloring changed quickly and he was healthy.
Literally seconds after he was born, I said with much happiness, "Thank goodness that's over!" And by the way, another swear-free delivery! That's two in a row for me! YEAH baby! Drugs are good, in the hospital!
Tyler also got to put on Preston's first diaper! He did such a great job.
Here I am, as happy as can be with my new little angel. And yes, I delivered with my crown on. I am a princess! No tearing, no episiotomy, no hemorrhoids... I couldn't be happier!
Way to go Tyler! You are a champ with a lot of courage to be part of a delivery and you have a lot of love! You are a great big brother!
 Cute daddy and son time!
 His weight was 9lbs 9oz, 22" long.
 First bath in the nursery...

Here we all are! One big happy family!!

Stats

Here are the stats of all my boys, none of them are born on the same day, weigh the same or have the same first initial.

Will 9-8-99 10lbs 6oz
Jackson 9-17-01 9lbs 8oz
Tyler 10-05-03 9lbs 12oz
Gavin 02-11-06 9lbs 0oz
Brigham 03-10-08 9lbs 10oz
Nathan 09-29-09 9lbs 11oz

So what is YOUR guess of this next baby's stats?

He will be born tomorrow, 07-07-12, but what will he weigh? I hope it's not the same weight as the others!!

Sticking with the 7 theme my guess is 9lbs 7oz!! We will see!

Trying a new Drug

One of the worst experiences happened to me the other day, when I shot up and tried a new drug. Let me explain a little bit more in detail about what happened. It was Tuesday night and I was having contractions every 2 minutes for about an hour. I took a hot bath trying to alleviate the pain and it only helped for a short amount of time. I hopped out, got dressed and went for a walk. The contractions did slow down to every 3-4 minutes, but I was still in pain and not feeling well. My back was hurting, my hips were hurting, my inner thighs were hurting and of course the contractions were hurting. Scott talked me in to heading to the hospital, so off we went. I was contracting every 2-3 minutes. I was a 3 and 70% effaced. After an hour or so no real change accrued so they said I could go home. The nurse offered to give me a shot of morphine. I’ve had that shot before, several years ago, and it didn’t seem to have any effect on me. So the nurse offered me demerol. It was a small pinch and a weird burning feeling and then nothing. The nurse wanted me to wait in my room for a few minutes, just to make sure everything was ok. I walked around the room, used the restroom and all of a sudden I got a little light headed. I am often light headed and get dizzy easily. Especially when I’m pregnant. My equilibrium is off. So, at first, it was no big deal. Then the whole room started spinning and I felt like I was falling. The slightest move of my head or body made me freak out. It was so scary. I remember I kept telling Scott to catch me because I felt like I would fall out of my bed. After a half hour or so, it wasn’t much better but I was finally in the wheel chair. Will was holding my head to the pillows so I wouldn’t feel the falling effect as much. It helped a little but I was still extremely dizzy and scared. I also remember Will started crying because of how I was acting. (In hindsight it was a great teaching moment NOT to do drugs!!) After an hour I was finally home and in bed. I slept until 10am. I woke to use the restroom and went back to sleep until noon. I needed that extra sleep and rest for my achy body. Scott told be how bizarre I acted and how I would sit there and not be moving but I would feel like I was. I thought of my brother William and how he chooses to use drugs daily. Maybe he doesn’t get dizzy like I did, but he enjoys that feeling. And guaranteed, heroin is much worse than demerol. I will never use that drug again. I hated not having any control over my body. It was scary. It felt terrible. That’s my experience with using a new drug. Yuck!

50th Wedding Anniversary

Scott's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary over the weekend in Cedar City!!! Elizabeth, Scott's oldest sibling, planned the entire event from Virginia, and did an outstanding job.

On Friday evening there were kids games, like Minute to Win it. We ate pizza dinner and hung out with lots and lots of cousins.

My boys had a blast with their Thompson cousins. Unfortunately, we don't get to see and hang out with the rest of the Thompsons very often, so this was a treat.

Will and Jackson were against each other in the rubber band game.

On Saturday morning were family pictures. After the boys were thrilled to untuck their shirts and mess up their hair. Then we found out there was a few more shots, oops! Boys will be boys!

Saturday night was the big party. Everyone was dressed up so nicely. All the boys/men had gold bowties on. As Helen and Harley walked into the gym we all bowed for them, like a royal court.

In the middle of the gym was dancing, which all the little cousins enjoyed. And all us adults loved watching! Helen's dress was so beautiful and Harley looked so sharp in his Tux.

Around all the walls were huge photos of Helen and Harley during all their 50 years of marriage. On one wall was this. Maybe at their 60th my family will take up two rows! :)

Not only a beautiful cake, but delicious as well!

The guy in the white shirt right next to Scott's dad is Scott Peterson. Elder Scott Peterson was a missionary in Florida when he met Helen, Harley and their 2 kids. After baptizing them, Helen and Harley knew there were more children for them in heaven and soon after Scott, Patrick and Paul came along. Here is Scott Peterson's legacy.

Thank you Scott for being a great missionary. Thank you Helen and Harley for listening to the spirit and entering the waters of baptism.

The entire weekend was so much fun (and painful). I am so glad we were able to attend this fun family reunion. I say painful because I was having contractions a lot of the time. every 10 minutes here....every 5 minutes there...and then nothing. Every 4 minutes...every 2 minutes...and then nothing!

CONGRATULATIONS HELEN AND HARLEY!!!

I. AM. Next!!

Friends out there, stop having babies before me. Put a stop to it, immediately! Please friends and acquaintances that are expecting, you cannot deliver your baby until I have first. Deal?

Yes, it’s a very touchy subject for me, as you’re already assuming.
My friend Emme was due July 1st and her baby was just born on the 23rd. I found out at church. Of course, I am thrilled for her and her hubby... But, it did tick me off a tad bit. It’s her first!!! Come on! I totally thought I would go before her or at least much closer together.
I hopped on Facebook this morning and found out another friend of mine, Erin, had her baby. She wasn’t due until July 6th and he was born June 24th. Hello? What about me?
While living in AZ there were a bunch of us due in the same month. Two girls the first week, ME the second week, another gal the third week, and another friend of mine the fourth week. So friend #1 has her baby and all is well. The next weekend I am in primary as the chorister and I see the kids from friend #3 and #4 with grandparents and/or just dad. I ask them where their mommy is. “In the hospital, she had her baby!” BOTH friends #3 and #4 had their girls the same day, 6 days before me. I started to cry...right in the middle of singing time.  The other mothers and teachers knew how I felt, the kids looked at me like I was crazy. I was! Now it’s happening all over again!
Come on ladies. There is a due date for a reason, please stick to it and wait your turn! I am next. You hear me...I. Am. Next. Or so I hope to be!

Hopefully you all know that I am not really mad, just wanting to blog about another interesting part of pregancy!

Maternity Portraits

A few days ago I had my maternity portraits taken, here are the ones I think turned out the best. There's a good variety.

Cute Nathan was watching the entire time and kept coming in to hug me or kiss the baby. So cute!

I'm starting to really feel it now!

With less than two weeks to go it has suddenly hit me I have a ton to do before this baby comes. It seems like with every pregnancy it takes forever to get to the very end. Now, it’s all of a sudden here! BAM!
Over the weekend we took down all the baby things. IE bassinet, boppy, papasan swing, papasan chair, bath tub, Bumbo...Holy molly it was a lot of stuff. Why on earth does a tiny little 10 pounder need so many things? I guess he doesn’t, I do!
Last week I took down 3 newborn and infant bins with onesies, clothes, shoes and blankets. THREE bins? Really? I went through them all and gave a few outfits away and washed and folded everything else.
I finally got my maternity portraits done, check it off the list.
I am planning on sewing him a couple blankets over the weekend.
What else was I missing...Oh yeah, my birth plan, a list of things I need to pack to take to the hospital with me, registering at the hospital and a tour of the new hospital where baby boy will be born. As I read my birth plan I laughed. It was humorous. I tweaked it a little and printed it out. Will I need it? Will I even remember what’s on it or follow it? Who knows! Monday in another doctor’s appointment where I’ll make sure to ask the few last questions on my mind. Episiotomy, videotaping the birth, Scott delivering, children in room and me cutting the umbilical cord. Right across the street is St. Mark’s where we will go to register and take a quick peak of the labor and delivery floor and birthing suites. Now what? Is that everything? What else have I forgotten?

I am ready to go anytime now. My body is hurting. Throbbing. Aching. Sore. Contracting. I waddle everywhere. It’s hard to do the simplest of things. I always feel like a truck has run me over by the end of my pregnancy but it seems like it started earlier this time and is more intense than the others. I’m getting old. The baby is in position and has already dropped. Such a weird feeling having this hard ball thing between your legs. My last doctor's appointment I was dilated to a 2, we'll see what tomorrow's appointment brings.

Scott told me today not to do anything all day. Lay in bed, read, watch a movie, nap, and play on the computer. Then he said that’s what I should do for the remainder of this pregnancy. He is such a comedian. Like that is possible for me to do. Hello! I have 6 kids all going in different directions all the time. I still have a house to keep up with, a garden, food to buy and prepare. Besides all that, I still couldn’t do that. I’d rather be in pain at the water park or the park, zoo, Trafalga, a BBQ, in my garden...I'm miserable but at the kids are having a fun time!

New York City Extras

Here are some more fun pictures of my trip to New York City with two of my cousins. These are pictures from my cousin, Angie's, camera. I couldn't resist to share them with you all!!
I'm hanging with the Subway Queen! Aleigh knew which train on which side and which letter/number to take to get us everywhere!
With our cute cousin Joseph at his Baseball tournament in upper state New York.
Walking around the Smith Farm in Palmyra, NY, here is Rick with 3 of his 4 sons. Future missionaries. Future leaders. Awesome!
While shopping in SoHo we, I mean Aleigh, couldn't resist the store DASH. Here she is modeling like one of the Kardashian sisters. She fits in perfectly!
On our way to our FIRST Broadway show, Lion King, in Time Square.

On one of our many Taxi rides! So fun!
Taking a little rest in Sprinkles while I wait for my cupcake order.
Walking under one of the many bridges in Central Park.
It sprinkled on and off that day, which was fine because it kept us all nice and cool and we hiked all over the island that day.

Olympus Football

Will and Tyler wanted to play football this year, and Scott and I were all for it! They went to agility camp a few weeks ago and this past week was tackle camp. Both boys loved it and learned a great deal. At practice yesterday Tyler made a touchdown!

The coaches broke the group up in two groups and had an obstacle course race. Here is Tyler running through the course, tackling and dodging.
Will was on the opposite team and he hit and ran it hard.

These boys did a great job and are excited for the season to begin. They have a few weeks off and then football practice will begin for them. They wish it would start sooner.
Great work boys!

Car Seat Cover

I made this adorable car seat cover for baby boy #7, I've never had one before. Thought lucky #7 needs one. We bought him a new stroller and car seat so I wanted to match it as close as possible, and think it came it pretty dang well. Thanks to Cluck Cluck Sew for an easy tutorial. I also found this tutorial at Sew Much Ado which was super cute with gathered pleats and rick rack. It's a little beyond my sewing skills though. I would of done this one of I was making a cover for a girl though! Adorable!

I can't wait to see the new Thompson baby snoozing in there!
